Class Structure

Shaolin A.R.Ts classes are structured as follows:

  • Basic joint mobility exercises
  • Basic warm up routine
  • Strength & conditioning exercises
  • Martial art form & application training
  • Basic cool down routine
  • Legends, philosophy and Life lesson

The students participate in each portion of the class as a group. The specific exercise and technique practiced, performed or taught is customized to the goals and current abilities of each individual student.

The joint mobility exercises consist of gentle movements that are designed to lubricate the joints. Starting at the head and neck, moving down to the shoulders, waist, hips, and knees. Each movement is gentle and kept within comfortable range of motion.

The warm up routine is made up of body weight exercises such as squats, push ups, etc.

Medicine balls, kettlebells, ab wheels, punching bags and body weight exercises are all used to increase physical strength and conditioning.

Martial art training consists of; basic Qi Gong (Energy) training, punching, kicking, forms training and movement application.

The cool down is light stretching, and Qi Gong exercises.

There many legends and philosophies within the history of, Chinese martial arts that have taught, inspired and motivated students for centuries. These are shared  so that each student becomes part of that tradition.
